This is a drawing I started last night, sorry for the bad photos but that's what happens at 2 something in the morning. I think I've done this piece of this girl with this lamb about four times so far, dating all the way back to 2006 I think, maybe 2007. The first piece I did was acrylic on canvas and it looked very similar to my "Little Girl Blue" painting. The colors and environment were just different and of course the girl was holding a lamb instead of a rabbit. The second time I did the piece was in oil paints, it was the second oil painting I worked on after "The Bringer of Dreams". Then the third was done with Copic markers.
None of these I ever finished, and I don't even think I have the original acrylic one anymore, but for whatever reason I keep unintentionally coming back to this idea. Hopefully this time around this piece will reach completion.

Sakura Print Available

The 'Sakura' prints are now up for sale in my website shop as well as my Etsy shop. The framed version of the print is framed in a really lovely black/cherry wood frame and is protected by UV coated glass.

I'll be busy tonight and probably tomorrow putting the finishing touches on my "day of the dead" themed painting. Here's a quick peek at what I'll be working on once that is done...

I actually started on this piece late last year, started painting it, and it didn't turn out to my liking so I decided to start over completely a few months ago. I drew the whole thing over again and it's just been sitting around ever since, I'm hoping to start painting this piece this weekend. I'll be doing a video on it as well, since I know I haven't made any time lapse videos in awhile.

Sakura proofs and upcoming show

"Sakura" proof arrived in the mail yesterday and I'm quite happy with how it turned out, it looks lovely and I really like the new paper. I had this printed on Hahnemühle bamboo paper, which is 90% renewable bamboo and 10% cotton. I think it's sightly heaver than the Somerset Velvet watercolor paper I was using before, as well as smoother. Not as much texture on it and I think I like the difference. These will hopefully be up in the shop next week or so, the printer I use is usually pretty quick about sending prints out.

And of course they won't look like the picture above (that's just a proof, I don't want to confuse anyone, haha), they'll be 5"x7" full bleed with no borders. I'll also be offering them both framed and unframed.

Also I'll be taking part in a small works art show at Climate Gallery in New York next month. I'll have three paintings there, hopefully including the one I've been working on and posting pictures of lately. However I'm only about 60% finished with that one, and since I was invited to do this show on a bit of a short notice, I'm not sure if I'll have time to finish it before the deadline. I'd love to, but I don't want to rush it either. Anyway here is the show info for those who are in the area or will be in the area, stop on by:

The shop is back

Just a quick update to say that my website shop is up and running again finally. Check it out here! I'll post more later, I have a possible show coming up next month, so details on that to come once it's official.

New photography blog and update

For those of you who know me personally or know me from my early days on DeviantART.com, know that photography is something that I like to play around with. I've been meaning to set up a blog, website, or something for my photography and other random stuff since last year and just now got around to and remembered to do so. So basically I have separate blog now called All Imperfect Things for my photography, other interests, and random stuff that doesn't have to do with my artwork.

Also new artwork will be coming soon, I've been pretty busy lately and haven't been painting as much as usual. I have a few sculptures in the works, plus Halloween is coming up (if you remember my display from last year, we're doing the same this year, so that project is now in the works as well.), among other things, which has left me with little time to paint. But hopefully I'll be able to finish up something relatively soon. Though I must say it's been nice to take a little break from painting so much and not spend most of the summer preparing for shows. I feel refreshed now and inspired with new ideas that I can't wait to get started on.

Last but not least, I'm working on some new prints, they will be small 5"x7" limited edition prints, framed and ready to hang. So look for those in a few weeks.

I'm on Twitter again

Just a quick post to let you all know that I've opened another twitter account. I had one awhile ago but never really used it so I closed it. But I've been noticing lately there are a lot of artists and other creative people on there that I'd love to follow so I decided to get an account on there again. This time I'll try to keep it updated more often too. So feel free to follow me!

Oh and my site should be back up and running again by the end of the day, minus the shop, which is getting more of an overhaul and will take a little longer.

Just a peek at how she's coming along so far. I'm finding that underpainting technique to be very helpful along with layering. My paintings are probably going to take twice as long to do now, but I think it's worth it

Originals on Etsy

Some originals are now up for sale in my Etsy shop and what started out as a simple website update turned into a whole redesigning project. So my website will be down for a few days as I'm currently working on a new look for it. Almost done, just need to redo the shop area (then the originals will be listed there as well)

The other day I was out at Barnes and Nobles looking for the new Moleskine hardback Folio sketchbooks and notebooks, unfortunately they didn't have them, only had the large soft cover notebooks. I'm rather picky about that when it comes to most books, I usually prefer hardcover over soft cover/paperback when it's available. Anyways, while I was there I found this pretty neat encyclopedia on signs and symbols. I'm really into symbolism, which is evident, I'm sure, in my artwork. So I was pretty intrigued by this, I've been reading through it the past two days and it is indeed quite a fascinating little book.
